Calcium and Mineral-Rich Vinegar

I love my bones and I love finding new ways to feed my bones.

My bones were jumping for joy having found The Healthy Bones Nutrition Plan and Cookbook – Medicine Through Food Guide by Dr. Laura Kelly and Helen Bryman Kelly.  Inside the book offers a recipe for Bone-Building Calcium-Rich Vinegar.

“Just one tablespoon of Bone-Building Vinegar equals 350-400 mg of calcium (1,000-1,200 recommended for menopausal and post menopausal women)”.[1]

Bone-Loving Brussels Sprouts Slaw

By: | Posted in: Blog, Featured | Thursday, Oct 18, 2018 - 5:03pm

Join Irma and Skelly (the skeleton that lives in us all) for fun time in the kitchen.

Brusells Sprouts are a cruciferous vegetable. These veggies were originally named for the way their flowers seemed to form a cross or crucifix shape. But they are also known as “brassica” vegetables. That comes from their botanical name which translates to “cabbage.” Some people just call them the cabbage family of vegetables.

Eating three servings a day of cruciferous veggies is my personal goal.

Here’s a list of the most common ones you’ll find:

Cashews growing on the tree

Who knew the bone-loving qualities of cashews?

From Dr. Mercola:

“Cashews are the number one crop in the world (after almonds), cultivated in more than 30 countries. They require a hot, humid climate to proliferate, which is why India, Brazil, Mozambique, Tanzania, and Nigeria are the largest raw cashew producers. (more…)

Spice Up Your Bones

By: | Posted in: Blog, Featured | Friday, Jul 6, 2018 - 4:43pm

Last week Skelly and I did a little dejunking in the kitchen. We went through all of those dusty, old spice jars hiding here and there in the cabinets. They must have been there for years!

YOU know what I’m talking about.

We started fresh with a brand new wooden spice rack that we keep on the counter.

I love it! And it speaks to my need to be organized. (more…)

Raspberries

My bones (Skelly) love berries  because that means summer.  Do you adore the summer as I do?    Spending time with friends at the beach and getting lots of bone-building sunshine.  And eating plenty of brilliant fresh summer berries.

Even though berries are tiny, they pack a powerful punch when it comes to your bones.  Their beautiful reds, blues, blacks, and purples tell you that they are full of natural antioxidants.  Yet they have such a short shelf-life.

There is a trick keeping your berries mold free.

Can Pomegranates Reverse Bone Loss?

My Skelly really likes summer fruits like blueberries and watermelon. But come winter there’s a fruit she loves even more. I’m talking about pomegranates. These are one of the oldest known fruits in the world. In ancient Egypt they were buried in the tombs of royalty.

And I love pomegranates for what they do for my Skelly…

The Essential Thryroid Cookbook

Did you know your thyroid can make or break your bones?

Chances are you know someone with an underactive thyroid. Maybe it’s you…

I’m not surprised. Hypothyroidism has become an epidemic. It’s estimated to occur in up to 6.5 percent of people. It’s twice as likely to hit you if you’re a woman and three times more likely if you’re white.[i]

In a minute, I’ll share with you a great new resource Skelly and I have found for making sure your thyroid is always in tip top shape – naturally.

Build Healthy Bones While You Sleep

Bones need sleep

At the end of a long day I am bone tired. But when my head hits the pillow, my Skelly still has lots of work to do. Here’s what I mean…

Your bones have a daily cycle just like the rest of your body.

They are built up by special cells called osteoblasts that work mostly during the daytime. But come nighttime your bones are broken down by other cells called osteoclasts. They clear out old cells and make way for the new osteoblasts that come during the day.
